Chapter 19 - The Righteous Su Mu
Su Mu arrived at school and entered the classroom, only to find that many students were already there waiting for him.
These were the students who had paid in the morning but hadn't received their medicine.
Seeing Su Mu arrive, they didn't need to be called; they spontaneously formed a long queue, looking forward with eager anticipation for him to distribute the pills.
Right at the front of the line was Liao Wei.
To get the special effect qi refining pills as soon as possible, he didn't even go home. He had lunch at the school canteen, wolfing it down in a few bites before running to Su Mu's classroom to wait.
"Have you been waiting long?" Su Mu asked with a smile, pulling a bag of special effect qi refining pills out of his backpack and handing it over to him.
"Not too bad," Liao Wei replied with a grin.
However, upon seeing the pills in the bag, he was taken aback and said in surprise, "Su Mu, isn't the quantity wrong? Why are there only four?"
"I was just about to discuss this matter."
Su Mu raised his voice so more people could hear him.
"Due to the high number of pre-orders, we've exceeded the quantity prepared by the grand alchemist. To ensure that every student who paid gets their special effect qi refining pills and doesn't fall behind in their cultivation, the grand alchemist has decided to provide the pills in batches. You'll get four today, and the remainder will be made up over the next few days. Please pass this message along so that more people are aware."
Soon, everyone in the queue knew about this arrangement.
"What is this, an installment plan?"
"It feels more like those mobile games where you buy a monthly pass and log in every day to collect rewards."
"That's actually a pretty good analogy."
The students chatted among themselves with various comments, but none of them raised any objections.
They didn't want to upset Su Mu and lose out on any discounts.
Besides, as long as they were assured their daily dose of special effect qi refining pills, it didn't matter if it was in installments or a monthly pass.
Liu Peng was also in the classroom.
Seeing that Su Mu had begun distributing the special effect qi refining pills, he hurried over to help.
One checked the information while the other handed out the alchemical pills, greatly speeding up the process. They managed to distribute all of the pills before class started.
During this time, more students who had pre-ordered the special effect qi refining pills arrived. After paying in full for five boxes, they collected their four pills for the day.
It wasn't until the last customer left, satisfied with their pills, that Liu Peng found an opportunity to whisper, "Amu, did you hear? Zeng Yuan and those two went to the clinic demanding a refund, but the clinic said their qi refining pills had no quality issues and were indeed more effective than the regular ones, so they refused to refund a cent. It looks like they've really lost out big time!"
Su Mu just listened without responding.
He wasn't concerned about the fate of Zeng Yuan and his friends.
Liu Peng hesitated, then added, "There's something else. The students who asked for refunds earlier came to me. They admitted they were wrong and want to buy the special effect qi refining pills again."

"Why don't they come to me directly?" Su Mu asked.
Liu Peng spread his hands out: "They are too embarrassed, after all, it's like a dog bites Lü Dongbin, not recognizing the heart of a good person1. So, they came to me hoping I could say some good words for them in your presence. What do you think I should tell them?"
Su Mu pondered for a moment and let out a light sigh, "Let them come. After all, we are classmates."
"Okay," Liu Peng nodded. As he picked up his phone to make a call, he asked, "What about the discount?"
Su Mu feigned difficulty, "Certainly, they can't have the original discount. Initially, according to the grand alchemist, those who got refunds were not to enjoy any discounts again. But since we are all classmates, I still want to look out for them... So, here's the deal, the fourfold discount is definitely not happening, but I can offer them a 20% discount. If the grand alchemist blames anyone, I'll take full responsibility!"
Liu Peng was deeply moved and gave a thumbs up, saying sincerely, "Amu, you're truly righteous! If anyone dares to call you a profiteer again, I'll be the first to shut them down!"
Su Mu waved his hand modestly and replied, "You flatter me, truly."
After a pause, he added, "If you have contact with Zeng Yuan and his group, let them know as well."
Liu Peng's admiration grew, "Even after what Zeng Yuan and the others have done, you're still willing to sell them the special effect qi refining pills?"
Su Mu sighed deeply, "Ah, I'm just too soft-hearted, I can't stand to see others suffer."
But in his mind, he was thinking: Selling to one more person means making an extra forty thousand. Only a fool wouldn't sell! It's a pity there aren't more people like that; otherwise, I could make a killing. Nowadays, people are much shrewder, and only a few act impulsively...
Liu Peng was unaware of Su Mu's inner thoughts and was even more touched by his apparent generosity.
Soon, through Liu Peng, word spread quickly.
The entire senior year knew about Su Mu's 'repaying evil with kindness,' and many teachers were impressed, saying that he was a really good kid. Su Mu's class teacher even stated that if it weren't for the upcoming graduation, this act alone would have warranted an application for an honor as an outstanding student.
Those classmates who had returned their pills and bought them back at double the price didn't feel like they were ripped off. Instead, they were grateful to Su Mu, continuously offering apologies and thanks.
Despite paying more, they acted as if they had gotten a huge favor from Su Mu...
Zeng Yuan and his two friends, accompanied by their parents, came to the school to find Su Mu and apologize, then paid for the medicine.
Throughout the process, the trio kept their heads down, not daring to look at Su Mu.
They had thought Su Mu would take the opportunity to ridicule them, or at least mock them a few times, but Su Mu did not do so. Although he didn't speak much to them, he was very cordial to their parents, which made them feel relieved and also a bit grateful and guilty towards Su Mu.
Before they knew it, three days had passed. Su Mu and Su Ye had worked hard to produce all the outstanding special effect qi refining pills and distributed them to the students who had pre-ordered.
Su Mu found time to calculate his earnings: among the senior students at his school, more than three hundred had bought his special effect qi refining pills. After deducting the cost of 60,000, he had made a clear profit of nearly six million! It was an outrageous profit!
Su Mu understood that such exorbitant profits from selling the special effect qi refining pills were only possible before the examination for cultivation. At any other time, he couldn't sell a box for four thousand. If he wanted to make money off the pills in the future, he'd either have to wait until the next examination for cultivation or set up a pharmaceutical factory for mass production. Handcrafting them wouldn't be profitable otherwise.
Having made money, Su Mu didn't forget about Liu Peng and gave him a share of 200,000 according to their profit-sharing agreement.
Liu Peng was surprised when he saw the transfer: "Amu, why did you send me so much money? Is there a mistake?"
"No mistake," Su Mu patted his shoulder, "We made a good sum for the grand alchemist this time, and he was very pleased. He gave us an extra rebate. I got more than you, so don't be jealous."
"Not jealous at all. I can't thank you enough. How could I be envious? If it wasn't for you bringing me in on this, I wouldn’t have made a dime." After confirming that it wasn't a dream, Liu Peng let out an excited howl and hugged Su Mu, playfully nibbling on him in his excitement.

A dog bites Lü Dongbin, not recognizing the heart of a good person(狗咬吕洞宾,不识好人心): This Chinese idiom means that someone fails to recognize and appreciate the benevolence of a good person. It is based on a story involving Lü Dongbin, one of the revered Eight Immortals in Chinese mythology, who is known for his kindness and benevolence. The saying implies that some people are ungrateful and unable to recognize kindness, just as a dog mistakenly bites the kind-hearted Lü Dongbin.
