Chapter 54 - The False Conscience of a Scam Shop
Ruan Jun was momentarily stunned as he felt that the pretentiousness of this Online Shop was far beyond his pay grade to review. Dropping his coffee, he hurriedly stood up and dashed towards the manager's office.
His colleagues were curious about his actions: "What's going on?"
Ruan Jun responded offhandedly, "There's an Online Shop that requires the big shot to personally review."
His coworker was shocked: "Isn't reviewing Online Shops our job? You're actually going to trouble the boss? Are you losing your mind or just don't want to work anymore?"
You don't know squat!
Ruan Jun ignored him and rushed into the manager's office, quickly explaining the situation. The manager was also taken aback.
The manager was quite experienced and had encountered many celebrities and big shots who opened Online Shops, but this was the first time he saw one that managed to amass a host of big shots and recruitment teachers from cultivation universities to support the store even before passing the review stage.
Such a move was so audacious it was almost impossible to stand tall!
The manager pondered but couldn't figure out what the store owner's intentions were.
Was it to showcase connections? Or just to Show off?
What he didn't realize was that Su Mu hadn't thought that much into it; he simply mass-sent messages as part of his wide-net strategy.
"Are these documents authentic? They're not fakes, right?" the manager asked with some concern. The situation was unprecedented, prompting extra caution.
The manager obtained the office numbers of the cultivation universities and called each one.
After thorough verification, it was confirmed that the information on the list was genuine; several calls were even answered directly by the teachers listed.
Putting down the phone and wiping the sweat from his forehead, the manager told Ruan Jun, "The information is correct; the shop's qualifications are beyond doubt. Approve it quickly."
"Yes," Ruan Jun nodded in agreement.
As he was leaving the manager's office, he couldn't help but ask, "Boss, who do you think is behind this Online Shop?"
"How would I know? But anyone who can mobilize so many recruitment teachers from cultivation universities for verification is definitely not an average Joe," the manager mused.
Ruan Jun struck an expression of sudden realization, gave a thumbs up, and said admiringly, "How come I didn't think of that? You're indeed the boss for a reason!"
The manager was thoroughly pleased with such flattering praise.
Back at his desk, Ruan Jun promptly passed the Pay-to-Ascend Immortal Shop's qualification review, not daring to delay even a moment.
Although the Pay-to-Ascend Immortal Shop's homepage was quite basic and only featured a pitiful four types of entry-level products, Ruan Jun didn't dare underestimate it.
After all, hidden in the seller's information verification section was a list of big shots' names...
Once the Pay-to-Ascend Immortal Shop was approved, a series of messages were sent to Su Mu and the teachers who helped with the verification.
The teachers read the messages and simply smiled, not seeking to take credit from Su Mu.
Such actions would seem too mercenary and unbecoming, possibly even producing the opposite effect.
In fact, as long as Su Mu saw that the Online Shop was approved, he would know they had lent a hand—why make an extra fuss?
The recruitment teachers put their phones aside, but quickly picked them up again, remembering something else.
Su Mu's treasures weren't of any use to them, but within the various departments of the cultivation universities, there were plenty of low-level cultivators and quasi-cultivators.
For these individuals, low-level runes, alchemical pills, spiritual cuisine, and Magical Tools were just what they needed.
Since the prices were all about the same, it only made sense to let the students use the best treasures available to ensure their optimal development.
That was Wu Jian's line of thinking.
He picked up his phone, copied the link to Su Mu's Online Shop, and shared it not only to his students in a small WeChat group but also in the larger WeChat group of the Runic Formation Department.
He even included a thoughtful recommendation:
"Check out this shop's treasures—they're quite impressive. Especially the Spirit-Channeling Runes, which are perfect for our major. Soon, the Cultivation Journal will publish a theoretical article related to this rune. I suggest you study it. While you won't learn the exact way to draw it, it'll enhance your understanding and mastery of Spirit-Channeling Runes."
In his own smaller WeChat group, Wu Jian added an extra note: "After reading the article, write a reflection paper. Make it insightful—it will be tied to your grades."
The students were taken aback by Wu Jian's message.

Especially those led by Wu Jian, who were utterly dumbfounded.
What happened? I wake up from a nap, and not only is the teacher advertising in the WeChat group, but he's also assigning homework?
A reflection paper on an article?
And it's tied to our grades?
The crafty old man is up to no good!
Snapping back to reality, they didn't dare discuss it in the WeChat group, instead opting to chat privately.
"What's up with the teacher? Why is he advertising?"
"Could his account have been hacked?"
"Are you kidding me? Who could hack our teacher's account? I bet he's trying to make some extra cash on the side as an online seller."
"Should I block him?"
"If you want to die, go ahead and block him."
In the larger WeChat group of the Runic Formation Department, many knew of Wu Jian but didn't recognize his WeChat ID.
So, some members started to complain openly in the group.
"Who is this? Sending ads in the WeChat group early in the morning, kick them out!"
"Sending spam like this, are we supposed to wait until the New Year to kick them?"
While they complained, they didn't forget to tag the group owner.
The group owner, also a student but not one of Wu Jian's disciples, felt the ID looked familiar but didn't think much of it and actually kicked Wu Jian out of the group.
Wu Jian was baffled when he received the notification.
What the heck? I got kicked out of the departmental group? Who's bold enough to kick me out? Is someone trying to start a rebellion?
He immediately called his student, who quickly explained the situation to the group owner in the departmental group and got Wu Jian added back in.
The group owner profusely apologized, feeling both proud and scared for having kicked out big shot Wu Jian.
Fortunately, Wu Jian didn't make a fuss but simply explained his advertising in the group.
As the students watched the drama unfold with amusement, they couldn't contain their curiosity and checked out the Online Shop Wu Jian recommended.
They were eager to see what kind of magic this shop had that could make big shot Wu Jian willingly advertise for it.
When the students checked out the product descriptions, they were instantly buzzing with excitement.
"Holy smokes, am I seeing this right? The Spirit-Channeling Runes this shop sells have a spiritual qi utilization rate of 75% to 85%!"
"Where did this shop pop up from? Could it be a side brand of some runic formation research institute or a major company?"
"It's not just the Spirit-Channeling Runes, all the treasures in this shop seem to be of even higher quality than the best ones available on the market!"
"Are these descriptions for real? They're not just bragging or falsely advertising, right?"
"Professor Wu is even advertising for them, it can't be fake."
The students were thoroughly shocked by the merchandise Su Mu's shop was offering.
And when they saw the prices, they were even more impressed, considering the shop to be super fair and couldn't help but heap praise in the group chat.
Just then, someone posted a screenshot, full of indignation, "Do you see this clearly? And you say this shop is conscientious. Bullcrap, this is a Scam Shop! I feel like my wallet doesn't belong to me anymore..."
The screenshot showed the item descriptions related to card drawing...

The once lively group chat fell silent in an instant.
