Chapter 3: Teacher, the Instrument is Broken
Standing before the Instrument, Yu Sheng took a deep breath.
On the platform of the Instrument, there was a palm-shaped indentation.
Placing his hand upon it, a sudden sharp pain shot through his palm, followed by a drop of blood being absorbed by the Instrument.
Immediately after, a unique energy transmitted from the indentation into Yu Sheng’s body, causing his blood to circulate faster, his body to feel slightly feverish, and a potent energy to surge within him.
The Instrument began to tremble violently!
On the display, a golden, enormous 'Nine' appeared.
As the 'Nine' grew larger and larger, even the teacher standing beside widened their eyes in astonishment!
A genius!
A Nine Stripes genius!
In this county town, a Nine Stripes Egg had never been seen before.
Unexpectedly...
Today was a fortunate day, witnessing such an event!
But at that moment...
"Teacher, the Instrument is broken."
Yu Sheng glanced at the tightly shut door, then earnestly said to the teacher in charge of the test.
"Ah?"
"It's not broken, is it?"
The teacher paused, somewhat failing to grasp the situation.
Yu Sheng clenched his fist and struck the display screen.
The display... shattered.
Of course, the cost was Yu Sheng's palm also being sliced by the glass, his blood dripping down.
Yu Sheng struggled to suppress the agitation of his blood and turned to the teacher saying, "Now it's broken."
The teacher finally understood something, nodding subconsciously, "What you say... makes sense."
...
"This Instrument at the window needs repair."
"Go join the other two lines."
He hurriedly opened the door and instructed the people lined up outside, then with a grim look, turned to Yu Sheng, "You've destroyed public property, come with me!"
As he spoke, an Azure Bird Phantom emerged behind him, with three dark green gems embedded on its forehead.
Then, he grabbed Yu Sheng and flew away.
Cries of distress filled the air while resentment towards Yu Sheng thickened in the hearts of the students behind.
In Yu Sheng’s vision, wisps of faint black smoke rose from the tops of their heads, converging towards him, and finally being absorbed into the Scroll within his mind.
And there, at the dim edge of the Scroll, suddenly brightened.
An iron rod.
Nine golden stripes, like a Golden Loong, were entwined around it.
The Scroll that had remained still for over a decade...
Finally revealed an anomaly.

In the Principal's office, the atmosphere was tense. After the teacher responsible for the testing had given a detailed report, they left the room.
The Principal scrutinized Yu Sheng with a serious gaze, a hint of excitement in their eyes.
They took a deep breath.
"Yu Sheng, enrolled six months ago."
"18 years old."
"From Sin City, just secured the one annual quota to leave."
"The records are correct, aren't they?"
The Principal's eyes never left Yu Sheng's, attempting to discern something from his demeanor.

Yu Sheng seemed to be... in a world of his own.
Even the Principal's words took a moment to register: "Huh?"
"Mm."
Yu Sheng murmured a subdued reply before falling back into a daze.
The Principal frowned deeply.
Sin City...
It has never been a term associated with anything positive among humankind.
Sinful, dark, devoid of humanity...
It's as if every negative word conceivable could be applied to the people of Sin City.
A Nine Stripes Egg...
A prodigy, one who might even reach the pinnacle in the future.
If such talent were to come from a well-rooted and promising youth, it would be a blessing for humanity.
But from Sin City...
Pouring resources into nurturing a villain would be a disaster instead.
That's why the Principal was so desperate to see something, anything indicative in Yu Sheng, but to no avail.
Little did they know, Yu Sheng was also in a state of confusion.
At the moment of Awakening, the Scroll that had been dormant in his mind for eighteen years finally unfurled, and it seemed as if a special energy flowed into it as the students complained.
In the Scroll, at the very corner, a Staff wrapped with a Golden Loong was now emitting a faint glow.
"Is it as I predicted, that the Scroll would unfold during the Awakening?"
"But what is this special energy?"
"And what do the patterns in the Scroll represent?"
Yu Sheng fell into deep thought.
As the Principal observed Yu Sheng, who showed no interest in engaging, they couldn't help but question the situation.
Nine Stripes, and there's no excitement?
A personal meeting with the Principal, and no desire to have a heart-to-heart?
"Uh, Yu Sheng, I'm curious to ask, if... I mean, if, one day, you achieved six, or even nine Awakenings, what would you want to do?"
Seeing that the silence might soon become unbearable, the Principal eventually couldn't help but speak up again and asked indirectly.
"Serve the People."
Yu Sheng, still observing the scenes within the Scroll, replied casually.
The Principal was taken aback.
What kind of enlightenment was this?
Could this really be the words of someone from Sin City?
Listen to it!
Serve the People, how well-spoken!
"So what have you done for this ideal in the past?" the Principal probed further.
After being questioned several times, Yu Sheng finally snapped out of his daze, pondered for a couple of seconds, and said, "Yesterday, my father solicited a prostitute, and I reported him myself. Does that count?"
...
The Principal was once again thrown into disarray.
"You can go back and rest for now. Don't discuss the results of this Awakening with anyone. I'll find a way to arrange your future studies."
"With your current talent, you could easily get into any school."
"If you have any thoughts on this matter, you can also discuss them with your family..."
The Principal stopped mid-sentence, as if remembering something, and then with a sense of resignation waved his hand, "I guess your father won't be coming out anytime soon, so you'll have to figure it out yourself."
Yu Sheng stood up, bowed respectfully to the Principal, "Goodbye, Principal."
Perfect in his manners, Yu Sheng turned and left.
Watching Yu Sheng's retreating figure, the Principal sighed helplessly and covered their forehead with a hand, feeling a headache coming on.
Normally, the appearance of a Nine Stripes in their remote area would be something the Principal could boast about for a lifetime, but why did it have to be someone from Sin City...
So is a divine monkey gonna come out from the egg?
