Chapter 6: Protecting the Best Li Yihan

“I still don’t know your name. After you commit suicide, how am I supposed to report this to the Security Bureau or contact your family…”

Yu Sheng once again posed a very reasonable question.

The Youth remained silent, forcefully suppressing the anger within himself, and tried to speak calmly, “My name is... Li Yihan. Any more questions?”

“No more.”

Yu Sheng thought deeply for a moment, then shook his head.

Li Yihan watched Yu Sheng suspiciously for a long time. Then, tentatively raising his hand, the blade traced his neck for a while. Seeing no objection from Yu Sheng, he slowly closed his eyes, once again... recalling his life.

Yu Sheng looked at him curiously. "What I'm really wondering is, why haven't you killed me?"

"As the future World's Number One Assassin, I have my own professional ethics."

"I take people's money to solve their problems."

"Killing is my job, not my hobby."

"I can't kill you without receiving payment from a client."

Li Yihan's expression was extra serious at that moment, with no hint of jest; his eyes filled with earnestness.

Yu Sheng pondered thoughtfully, "Now, I truly believe you're an assassin."

"But how could someone who hasn't even begun their awakening ceremony get an assignment? Is it because you're poor?"

Yu Sheng asked with considerable interest.

"I think you could give me some hemostatic medicine before asking questions, or I might not be able to answer much longer," Li Yihan said, glancing at the wound on his chest helplessly.

"No rush. If you don't get too agitated, you could probably last another thirty-two minutes," Yu Sheng casually observed.

What kind of monster is this? Li Yihan always felt that Yu Sheng seemed more like an assassin than he was.

"I'll be of age in half a month."

"I can start the awakening ceremony soon."

"So I lied about my age and took on the mission, but I didn't expect the gap between an awakened and a non-awakened to be so vast."

Li Yihan seemed somewhat powerless as he said this.

"He should be detained there now, if all went as expected."

Yu Sheng shook his head as he spoke plainly, his harmless appearance making it hard for Li Yihan to know what to say next.

The person in front of him seemed about his age, with a similarly youthful face and a frail body. Yet, for some reason, Li Yihan felt an illusion.

It was as if sitting across from him was a towering demon, lurking in the shadows, ready to unleash its blade and drag someone into an endless abyss.

"Let's apply the medicine first."

Yu Sheng, lost in thought for a moment, suddenly spoke up, grabbing the medicine and tossing it next to Li Yihan.

He sighed lightly.

It seemed that the person in front of him really had no intention of killing him.

Li Yihan pulled out a bottle of special medicine and carefully poured it onto his wound. The intense pain swept through his nerves, causing his body to twitch slightly, but he clenched his teeth and made no sound.

"Actually, that's chili water," Yu Sheng suddenly said.

"You... Ah!!!"

"Holy shit!"

Li Yihan gave Yu Sheng a sharp look, as if he wanted to say something, but as he opened his mouth, he couldn't hold back any longer and began to groan in pain.

Yu Sheng shrugged. "Just kidding. It's okay to scream when it hurts; holding it in is uncomfortable."

"After you wrap up the bandage, remember to clean up the room for me."

"And take out the trash at the door when you leave."

"But you still owe me a life debt. I'll come looking for you when I need something, and I hope you're still alive then."

Saying this, Yu Sheng yawned, stood up, and went back to his bedroom to lie down.

Li Yihan watched Yu Sheng's retreating figure, his expression complex, lost in thought.

"Actually... awakened aren't as strong as you might think."

Standing at the bedroom door, without turning around, Yu Sheng dropped this cryptic remark and then closed the door.

"Really?"

"Maybe... Ouch, it hurts so bad, damn!"

Just as Li Yihan was about to reflect on those words, he couldn't help but cry out in pain again.
